Kilnwash Release Agent

Work in a well-ventilated area and always observe the manufacturer's safety guidelines.

Preparing Kilnwash:

Carefully mix the Kilnwash powder: 1 part powder to 4 parts water. Thorough mixing is important. You can also place two marbles in a (well-sealed) container to mix thoroughly.

Heat Kilnwash Once Before Use
Kilnwash should be heated once before use with glass, but not with the glass, so the coating can adhere.
Kilnwash is purple when applied. After heating, the coating turns white.
This color coding indicates that the Kilnwash is now ready for use. We tested the wattage at which the Kilnwash activates in our microwave setup:
Heat the standard HotPot for at least 25 minutes at 300 watts - allow to cool with the lid closed.
Heat the Maxi HotPot for at least 35 minutes at 300 watts - allow to cool with the lid closed.

The Kilnwash has now formed a powdery coating and is ready to use.

Storage

You can save the Kilnwash you have prepared for future use. Mix/shake well before use.
